Sales page copy is one of those tasks that takes longer than it should. Most people write a few drafts, second-guess the whole thing, and end up with something that sounds like it could be from any business rather than theirs specifically.
This is where Claude AI has genuinely changed things. Not because AI is a magic copy solution, but because when it knows how you write and what you actually sell, the output starts to sound real.
Why Most AI-Generated Copy Sounds Generic
The reason AI-generated sales pages read as generic is that AI doesn't know you. It knows the format of a sales page. It knows the kind of language that typically appears on them. But it doesn't know your specific perspective, your customer's specific problem, or how you'd naturally describe the solution.
Without a voice bank and clear product context, you'll get a serviceable template. With those things, you get something that actually sounds like you wrote it.
What You Need Before You Start
Two things need to exist before you write copy with AI. First, a voice bank. This is a document or Airtable record that describes how you write, what language you use, what you never say, and how you approach selling.
Second, detailed product information. The name, the problem it solves, who it's for, what's included, and the price. The more specific this information is, the more specific the copy will be.
Setting Up a Voice Bank
A voice bank is a reference document that tells Claude how you sound before it starts writing. You don't need anything fancy — a Google Doc or Airtable record works fine.
Include: words and phrases you use regularly, language you'd never use (corporate-speak, jargon, filler phrases), how you typically open and close emails, 2-3 examples of copy you've written that felt right, and your general content tone (e.g. 'conversational but direct, no fluff, some humour').
You can build this yourself from your past content, or if you've used myFunnels, Sales and Launch System), your voice bank is already sitting in your Airtable base. You just need to reference it in your Claude prompt.
How to Give Claude the Product Brief
Once your voice bank is ready, write out your product details. This doesn't need to be a formal document -- just a clear, structured list.
Cover: the product name, the problem it solves, who it's for (be specific), what's included, the price point, and any objections your buyer might have.
Paste both your voice bank and your product brief into Claude at the start of your session. Tell it: 'Here is how I write and how I talk about selling. Here is the product I need a sales page for. Write the copy in my voice, using the sections I specify.'
What to Do With the First Draft
Claude's first draft will be around 80% there. The remaining 20% is your job.
Read through it and look for: sentences that feel corporate or over-explained, phrases that are grammatically fine but not how you'd actually say it, any section that buries the lead instead of leading with the outcome.
Edit in your own voice. Don't rewrite it for the sake of it -- if it sounds like you, keep it. But don't be precious about Claude's output either. The goal isn't a perfect AI draft. It's a sales page that converts.
Common Mistakes When Writing Copy With AI
The most common mistake is skipping the voice bank entirely and jumping straight to the prompt. You'll get something that sounds like every other AI sales page on the internet.
The second mistake is giving Claude too little product context. Vague inputs give vague outputs. The more specific your brief, the more specific the copy.
The third is not editing at all. AI copy is a starting point, not a final product. If you publish without reading it carefully, the generic bits will show.
The fourth is asking Claude to do everything in one go. Break it into sections: write the headline first, then the problem statement, the offer, and so on. You'll get better results and it's easier to edit.
Formatting the Final Sales Page
Once your copy is edited, paste it into your sales page builder. I use and recommend [Systeme.io](https://systeme.io/?sa=sa0253713462c64438853bb98ed6d79fbe19202a9a){aff} for this -- it's what I use for my own products and for client builds.
Structure your sales page like this: a bold headline that speaks to the outcome, a short paragraph that names the problem, your offer and what's included, social proof if you have it, pricing and what they get, and a clear call to action.
Keep it scannable. Most people will read your headline, skim the subheadings, and then decide. Write for the skimmer first.
Updating Copy Over Time
A sales page isn't written once and left alone. As you learn more about your buyers and what language resonates, you update it.
The advantage of keeping your product brief and voice bank in Airtable is that Claude can re-read them whenever you want to rewrite a section. You don't have to rebuild the context from scratch each time. [Systeme.io vs Kajabi](https://www.lizpeck.com.au/systeme-io-vs-kajabi-digital-product-sellers) is worth reading if you're still deciding which platform to host your pages on.
When Your Copy Is Ready
The test for whether your copy is ready: can you read it and honestly say that sounds like something I'd say? Does it describe my product accurately? Would my ideal customer understand who this is for?
If those three are true, it's ready. The [Complete Funnel Systeme](https://www.lizpeck.com.au/sales-funnel-starter-kit) includes pre-structured funnel templates so the page itself has a solid foundation before the copy even goes in.
FAQ
Does the voice bank need to be long?
No. A page of notes describing how you write, common phrases you use, and language you avoid is enough to meaningfully improve AI output.
Can Claude write the copy in my email platform's format?
Claude can write copy in any format you describe. Tell it you're writing for Systeme and want sections separated by headings.
What if the copy doesn't sound like me?
Usually means the voice bank needs more specifics. Add more phrases you use naturally and examples of writing you like, then regenerate.
Do I need a paid Claude account for this?
Yes. This workflow uses Claude Pro with access to your voice bank in Airtable via the MCP connection.
How long should a sales page be?
Long enough to answer every likely question a buyer would have. For a $27 to $97 product, that's usually 500 to 1,500 words.
